Rachel Tageant presents, “A Floristic Inventory of the Owens River Headwater Area, Mono
County, California”.
Rachel Tageant, a master’s student studying Botany at Claremont Graduate University and the
California Botanic Garden, will present her research in the Owens River Headwater Area on
Saturday, March 29, at 3 PM. The Owens River Headwaters Area is approximately 140km 2
(54mi 2 ) and has an elevational range between 2,213m (7,259ft) and 3,536m (11,600ft). The
study area is situated in a region of forested mountains and alpine meadows on the eastern
side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, between June Lake and Mammoth Lakes, California. Her
study area includes the Owens River Headwaters Wilderness, Ansel Adams Wilderness area,
and surrounding Inyo National Forest Land. Her presentation focuses on the plants of this area.
