Sunday Video Series “Hidden Ridgecrest 2”
March 23 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Sunday Video Series – “Hidden Ridgecrest 2” Sunday March 23, 2pm This is an all-new video of little-known stories, facts and rumors of Ridgecrest, China Lake, the Indian Wells Valley and the Eastern Mojave Desert. The video, directed and edited by Mark Pahuta, will answer such compelling questions as: Did you know that China Lake, using their little unsophisticated air-launch technique, may have launched this country’s first satellite into orbit? Did you know that the huge Welding Quonset hut in Inyokern used to be on Harvey Field? Did you know that two streets on East Ridgecrest Blvd., Gateway and Richmond, were miss-labeled when originally installed by two drunken workers and have been incorrectly referred to ever since? Do you know why Ridgecrest used to be known as Crumville? Did you know that when the navy moved to Inyokern in 1943, it may have been considered a permanent move and that the final move to the China Lake area may have never been intended? Do you know where, when and why the first complete signal light was installed in Ridgecrest? The video will answer these and other compelling questions about the area. It will also include the complete uncut version of Howie Wilcox’s 2nd most famous chalk talk, this one on NOTSNIK. The video runs a little less than one hour. Producers, Mark Pahuta and John Daly, will be on hand to introduce the video and answer questions afterwards. As usual, admission is free but seating is limited.
