Curation

Maturango Museum is a professional museum and curation facility that meets Curation of Federally Owned Archeological Collections 36 C.F.R. Part 79 (2022) standards.   The museum accepts and stores historic and prehistoric archeological collections from the Upper Mojave Desert region, bounded on the west by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Kern River Valley, on the north by southern Inyo County, on the south by Antelope Valley, and on the east by Death Valley and northwestern San Bernardino County.  Collections from adjacent areas may be accepted if they fall within the scope of a single project and should be housed together to maintain the integrity of the data.

For curation information, rates, and agreements, please contact the Maturango Archaeological Curator, Barbara Bane, M.A., RPA, at barb@maturango.org.
