Chairman Robert Gomez of the Tübatulabal Tribe of the Kern River Valley Will give a Talk

On Sunday, October 22, Maturango is privileged to have Chairman Robert Gomez of the Tübatulabal Tribe of the Kern River Valley speaking about Tübatulabal language, history and recent homeland acquisitions in Fay Canyon, Weldon.
Chairman Gomez is from the Linares clan (grandmother Clotilda ‘tcai gump’ and great grandmother ‘Wana muut”) and in his 12 years as Tribal Chair, has focused on reestablishing a Tribal identity for descendants of the ancestors who inhabited the Kern River Valley and surrounding mountains. He enjoys sharing his Tribal identity and culture with Native and Non-Native groups alike. Lecture begins at 3 PM, Coso Room, Maturango Museum.
