Film Series for October Features Historic Archeology Sites
October 19, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Join Maturango Museum in celebrating National Archeology Month with a free film event.
Our monthly film series on Thursday, October 19 will feature historic archeology sites from Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. Videographer Mark Pahuta and Maturango Archeology Curator Barbara Bane will show and discuss three films: Life at the End of the Road, interviews with pre-Navy homesteaders in the Indian Wells Valley; Ft. Coso, about an 1867 U.S. Cavalry fort in the Coso Range, and Epsom Salts Monorail, the “fastest monorail in the world” carrying salts from Wingate Wash to Trona on wooden trestles in the 1920s. While the public isn’t allowed to access these fascinating old sites in restricted territory, this is your opportunity to see them vicariously! Films begin at 6:30 PM in the Coso Room, Maturango Museum. Popcorn and drinks provided.
Bonus: free California Archeology Month posters to the first 20 attendees!
